Classless (Updated)

John McCain:

I had the courage and the judgment to say I would rather lose a political campaign than lose a war. It seems to me that Obama would rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign.

I just watched both full CBS interviews with McCain and Obama, viewable at CBSnews.com.

Obama credited our troops with reducing violence, but continued to say he would not have supported the surge, given that he had his own proposed strategy which was never put into play. He refused to engage in hypotheticals about what would have happened under his plan.

McCain, beyond making the comment quote above, said multiple times that Senator Obama lacked understanding of the policy issues, and that Obama does not acknowledge the Surge's success. He did engage in the hypotheticals, saying that Obama's strategy (similar to that proposed by the Bipartisan Iraq Study Group) would have led to defeat. Furthermore, McCain repeately pushed the idea that Obama would ignore the conditions on the ground, something that has never been his position (and that he got flak for in the primaries.)

Absolutely classless.

Update [2008-7-22 22:7:48 by Falsehood]: McCain also made a fundamentally wrong assertion regarding history and the Ambar awakening in the same interview. The Huffington Post has the story.

Re: Classless (2.00 / 2)

This will not be the last stupid remark by McCain this cycle....

McCain/Palin... even scarier than Bush/Cheney... and that's saying something!

Re: Classless (2.00 / 5)

Our days of not taking him seriously have certainly come to a middle.

Re: Classless (2.00 / 1)

Or even the least stupid remark.  That has to be the one Keith Olbermann highlighted tonight:  McCain claimed that the surge led to the Anbar Awakening which actually happened before the surge.

This classless clown is almost making this too easy.

Re: Classless (2.00 / 1)

Just saw that on HuffPost, and updated. It's not been a good week for him.

Re: Classless (none / 0)

Hopefully that will turn into months of bad. The only media source that I have seen that actually called out the fact that even Petraeus won't agree with McCain's reordering of when things actually happened is CNN. Granted, I don't do Huffington Post or Countdown because the people who do are pretty much already aware of the many problems with McCain's memory, any memory problems related to his age, or age related memory and mental capacity issues. But his statement about Obama just shows that a complete lack of class or just common decency is an ageless phenom. Sometimes people who take stimulants to do something their bodies and minds just won't do without chemical assistance can get pretty darn vicious. Since he also has stated that Social Security is a disaster, it would only be fair to ask for a detailed list of the medications that he takes to help  why people who take the same drugs think Social Security is keeping them alive and whining, er, I mean kicking.

Re: Classless (none / 0)

Remember that scene in Interview with a Vampire after they buried and bricked in Brad Pitt and that other vampire gave that look to Antonio Banderas? For some reason I just thought of that scene.

Re: Classless (none / 0)

Nor was it a good week for him the week before, or the week before that. Obama has had good and bad weeks, but there hasn't been one gone by where McCain comes out looking smart, strong and energetic.

"Tell me about your work ethic." "Well, I don't think ethnics do no work. I mean, that's they problem, really." "Overt racial prejudice. Impressive."

Re: Classless (none / 0)

What's an ongoing pattern of making classless, stupid and inaccurate remarks called again? I'm having an, uh, memory gap moment.

Re: Classless (Updated) (none / 0)

It is an undisputable fact that Obama completely neglects the conditions on the Iraq-Pakistan border.
